JAZZ CAMP 2017 Concordia College, Highgate
3 Day Workshopfor beginner-advanced Musicians |

The camp will be 30 September - 2 October, at Concordia College. There will be a performance on the Monday evening, which friends and family are welcome to attend (Note the Monday is a public holiday!) The camp is open to age 10 and up, but primarily aimed at high school/university aged participants NO PREVIOUS JAZZ KNOWLEDGE is required we do expect participants to be a grade 3 AMEB minimum as a rough guide, so they can keep up All instrumentalists are welcome to attend the camp NB.there will only be teachers for standard jazz instruments and strings atypical jazz instruments may miss out on useful information in instrumental masterclass sessions. JAZZ STRINGS We are excited to announce that Jazz Camp this year will include two options for strings players 1) Participate in the 3 day camp, as any of the other instruments The strings will take improve classes along with other instruments, be included in the jazz combos Have instrumental masterclasses by jazz violinist Julian Ferraretto (By popular demand from last year's workshop participants!) 2) A 1 day introductory Jazz Improvisation Workshop, similar in structure to the 2016 workshop In this workshop, the strings players will spend the day working with Julian Ferraretto learning some of the basics of how to improvise, how to function in a jazz combo, and how to alter technique to sound less classical and more jazzy. This workshop is probably more suited to strings players with nil-minimal previous jazz experience Both streams will have the opportunity to perform at the final concert on the Monday night.
